The Best of September

September was so fun for the Bakers!

This month Mark and I celebrated our friend Natalie’s birthday by having a mountain picnic up at Cade’s Cove. And Elias celebrated his friend Maeve by dressing up like a pirate for her fourth birthday. A few days later that same pirate costume landed Elias and his friends a FREE dozen doughnuts at Krispy Kreme!

Not only did we celebrate birthdays and eat doughnuts, we had a little party because the season changed. On the first day of Fall, we made pumpkin pies, warm caramel apple spices, and had a bonfire with friends. (Pictures coming soon!) We did this last year and it is definitely a new Baker tradition.

This month sweet little Owen turned 10 months old. And I am happy to report that he survived being held up by one leg in the middle of Target. Believe me it had to be done. I had no other choice. And it was all for his good!

Thankfully Owen survived, and Elias picked out some new rainboots while we were at the store. A few days later Elias and I had so much fun jumping in puddles on our rainy day adventure. Elias also wore his new bright boots on our F.A.K. field trip to The Fruit and Berry Patch. The boys loved the  hayride, picking pumpkins, and going through the corn maze. I hope going to the pumpkin patch becomes a yearly tradition too.

We had a lot of fun adventures this month, but I also learned a lot! Like, sometimes newborn pictures don’t always go as planned, and that two-year olds are hilarious. Elias didn’t fail to say funny things whether it was in song or by asking his silly little questions. I can’t wait to share more of what he has says this month!

A lot of fun things have happened in September including the fact that Pencilled Daydream won a little blog award, and Owen was a photo favorite on Kelly-Marie’s blog Our Footprints On the World. That is always fun! Thanks ladies.

I also learned more of what it means to be a fully alive mom from the word of God. And I am again amazed at who Jesus is and how He speaks to us! I wrote a two-part series on being a fully alive mom. You can read part 1 and  2  if you want to.

I also wrote a short series on prayer called Relentless. Because Jesus has relentlessly pursued my rebel heart, I shared some things that I’ve found helpful in my own prayer life, as I now hope to relentlessly pursue God’s presence. I had a blast sharing my prayer routine, how to make a short list, and how to remember God’s faithfulness through making a prayer journal.

September was such a blessing! But I am really excited for October to be here.

A lot of exciting things are coming up this month! One of my favorites being that Mark and I will serve the body of Christ in Romania by teaching pastors, women, and children. I will have a chance to lead some women in worshiping the Lord through dance, and I will be sharing my testimony of freedom in Jesus. I am so excited!

Thanks for reading some of our little adventures! Stay tuned for more of our story…
