A Beautiful Exchange

Two of us stood still. Kathy and I listened as a group of Romanian children sang. Soon little smiles danced across our faces as we heard their worship. In a small church basement where Christians had once been persecuted for their belief and faith, a song of praise went up to God.

With every joyful note the children sang, extravagant worship was given to God. We couldn’t be still for very long. We had to clap with them. We had to smile and sing with them. We had to worship!
As we rejoiced with them, I began to think about the gift God was about to give them. All the way on the other side of the world, a group of children in the United States known as Fully Alive Kids had a vision of giving shoes to other children in need.

For weeks our kids gathered shoes, wrote letters, prepared videos, and picked out a Scripture for each child. And now it was time to deliver these gifts. The gifts that God had put on their little hearts to give.

We were able to minister God’s love to sweet little ones like this!

It was a beautiful exchange!

And it so reminded me of what God does in our hearts.

He binds up the brokenhearted. He proclaims liberty to captives. He opens prison doors to those who are bound. He comforts those who mourn. He grants gladness. He gives a garment of praise. He repairs former devastation and rebuilds the ancient ruins. He gives salvation. Isn’t He good?!
